Virtualization - Where do We Fit?

Virtualization is one of the hottest topics in the industry today. According to CIO Insight magazine, virtualization technology accounts for some of the strongest spending growth in IT over the past couple of years, with nearly two-thirds of companies budgeting for server and storage virtualization. Industry analysts suggest that more than half of companies worldwide (and more than two-thirds in the US) are already implementing some form of virtualization in order to improve efficiency and decrease costs. In light of these trends, many of our customers want to know where we stand in regards to application and storage virtualization and whether our software supports a virtualized environment.

NTP Software supports both virtual applications and virtual storage.

- Application virtualization is the ability to run multiple applications on one machine under separate instances of the operating system. NTP Software’s products run well in this situation and have always done so. Not only do we test our products under VMware and Hyper-V, but we also use these environments every day in our own offices.

- Virtual storage is the ability to separate the use and management of storage from the need to know which physical device contains the actual data. NTP Software’s products have worked with major virtualization technologies since the early days of their development.

NTP Software’s products are designed from the enterprise perspective. Our ability to integrate and manage multiple vendors’ storage hosts extends to give us the ability to work in virtual storage environments. Ultimately, if the storage hosts that we support work in your virtual environment, then so will our software.

What about Virtual Sessions?

We have hundreds of customers who use Citrix environments and/or Windows Remote Desktop. As with application virtualization, we use these technologies in our business and our labs every day. Virtual sessions for administration and for your storage users are fully supported by our products.
